Why field technicians use the Quote Wizard
Going back to the office to generate a quote means losing the job. Homeowners get a better experience — and you close more work — when you can hand them a priced proposal before you leave the driveway.
The Field Quote Wizard gives contractors a professional, site-generated quote that covers the right equipment size for their home, a clear price breakdown, and a valid-until date. It removes the back-and-forth between site and office that costs you time and customers.
How the load calculation works
Each room's floor area is multiplied by a W/m² factor that accounts for solar gain, infiltration, and latent loads specific to your NCC climate zone — from 160 W/m² in Darwin (Zone 1) down to 95 W/m² in alpine areas (Zone 8). The total wattage is converted to L/s airflow, and the wizard recommends the smallest ducted unit in its library that meets or exceeds that airflow.
This is the same W/m² approach used in AIRAH DA07 for preliminary residential sizing — reliable for standard homes with typical insulation. For high-glazing or thermally complex buildings, the full neuralduct design tool lets you adjust load factors room by room.
What goes in the PDF quote
The generated PDF includes: customer name and site address; recommended system (brand, model, cooling kW, heating kW, airflow L/s); room schedule with individual L/s estimates; a four-line price breakdown (unit supply, ductwork, installation labour, miscellaneous); total including GST; quote validity date; and payment terms. Your company name and designer name appear in the header.
From field quote to full ductwork design
Once the customer approves the quote, the next step is the ductwork design. neuralduct's main design tool takes the system you've recommended and generates a fully routed duct layout — supply and return branches, grille placement, duct sizing against AS 4254.2, zone dampers, and a compliant PDF report for handover. You can start with a free account; no credit card needed.
Frequently asked questions
Is this HVAC quote generator free?
Steps 1–4 are completely free with no account — enter customer details, home info, rooms, and get a system recommendation. A free neuralduct account is required to generate and download the PDF quote at step 5. Creating an account takes under a minute and gives you access to the full HVAC design tool as well.
Can I use this on my phone in the field?
Yes. The wizard is mobile-first and built for on-site use. It works in any modern smartphone browser — Chrome, Safari, or Firefox. No app download required. All 5 steps plus PDF generation work on iOS and Android.
How accurate is the system recommendation?
The W/m² method is accurate within ±10–15% for standard residential homes with typical construction. It's a reliable starting point for quoting. For unusual homes (high glazing, passive solar, large slab construction), the full neuralduct design tool lets you refine load inputs room by room.
What brands are included?
The unit library covers Australian-market ducted systems from Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Fujitsu, and Actron Air — sized from 7.1 kW to 16 kW. You can filter by brand or adjust the recommendation manually.
Can I add my own prices?
Yes. In step 5 you can enter your own unit cost, ductwork cost, installation labour, and miscellaneous costs. The PDF shows the itemised breakdown with your numbers. For a saved price catalog that auto-fills across quotes, sign up for a free neuralduct account.
Does it work offline?
The tool saves your in-progress quote to browser localStorage, so if you lose signal or close the tab, your draft is preserved when you return. PDF generation requires an internet connection to download the file.
